The harvest season is underway in Mendoza, and the work continues as the Argentine fall serves up a mixture of cool and warm days.
Week two focused on the harvest of Torrontes, Chardonnay and Pinor Noir grapes. Cooler weather prevailed through much of the week, but by the weekend sunny days had arrived, bringing temperatures close to 27°C in the daytime.
Week three was dedicated to the harvest of Merlot grapes, and the workers were able to bring in nearly all of those grapes from the vineyard. Francisco and his team are really happy with the Merlot this year, and they say the number of kilos being harvested is slightly more than originally forecast.
The week ended with cloudy, cool days and some rain, which has delayed the harvest in week four. However, Pablo says the cloudy days help the grapes retain a nice freshness and fruit expression. These conditions are all very normal for this time of the year.
